Be proud of your DofE Award
Doing your DofE is an amazing but challenging experience. It’s an achievement Award holders should feel very proud of, developing skills such as confidence and team work.
We recently spoke to three young people who completed their DofE in 2018, an Award holder from 1967 and a parent whose son recently achieved his Bronze DofE Award.
They’re all extremely proud to have achieved their Award, and we ask for their thoughts on the DofE Achievers Range of clothing.
What is The DofE Achievers Range?
The DofE Achievers Range launched in 2015, giving Award holders a way to reward themselves for their hard work and commitment. Our range features high quality hoodies, polo shirts and the recently added quarter zip sweatshirt. These are all a great way to showcase your success at events, to family members or at presentations.
The garments feature the Award level Royal Cypher, subtly embroidered in Bronze, Silver or Gold thread. You can personalise the clothing with your name from just £3.
Whether you achieved this year or fifty years ago, these products are only available to DofE Award holders, and you must provide proof of achievement. Find out about the approvals process and how to order.
Award holders’ experiences
Jade, aged 18, Bronze, Silver and Gold Award holder 2018
Last year was a big year for Jade Bowler, also known as ‘Unjaded Jade’. She not only achieved her Gold DofE Award, but also became the UK’s number one study vlogger and now has over a quarter of a million YouTube subscribers.
Jade is proud of achieving all three DofE Awards. Jade said, ‘I know how much work went into all the different sections whilst juggling them alongside my school work and other commitments. I’m proud that I stuck with it, went out of my comfort zone and persevered.’
When asked about the DofE Achievers clothing, she said, ‘the Achievers hoodie is comfy, warm and perfect to relax in. By being exclusively for Award holders it’s an added stamp of pride to celebrate the hard work involved.’
Jonathan, aged 19, Silver Award holder 2018
Jonathan changed school for A-levels and went straight into his Silver DofE programme after being a Scout for many years.
Jonathan spoke about the personal skills he gained from doing his DofE, ‘I put a year’s worth of work in and I’m proud that I completed it. It has made me take more responsibility and be more independent, which is important at my age.’
Jonathan likes that everyone must go through a validation process before purchasing from the Achievers Range, as ‘it makes it more valuable as not just anyone can buy one.’
Annabel, aged 14, Bronze Award holder 2018
Annabel achieved her Bronze DofE Award through the local council.
Like many participants who went on expedition this year, the extreme hot weather made Annabel’s extra challenging. Annabel talked about her experience, saying ‘when I look back it was hard, but I feel proud that I completed it. I would say to anyone to not give up and enjoy it.’
Annabel feels she has really earned her DofE hoodie and says she’ll wear it while relaxing at home.
Debbie, parent of a Bronze Award holder
Debbie’s son, Thomas achieved his Bronze Award earlier this year and she treated him to an Achievers hoodie as a congratulations.
Debbie said her son ‘loved his hoodie and didn’t take it off all weekend, happily showing it off to all the family.’
Debbie was very impressed by the hoodie, commenting on the high quality of the material. Debbie also mentioned that Thomas is already planning another purchase when he achieves his Silver Award next year.
