Waterway Recovery Group volunteers support waterway restoration projects across England and Wales through week-long residential holidays known as Canal Camps. Put simply, we dig canals!

If you’re aged 18 or over and looking to complete the residential part of your Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award, our volunteer working holidays are a great experience for anyone who loves being outdoors and enjoys meeting people!

You will have the chance to learn traditional skills – such as bricklaying and stonework – and more modern techniques – such as piling, concreting or even how to operate machinery such as excavators and dumpers.

Our Waterway Recovery Group has been supporting waterway restoration across Britain for over 50 years, so you’re in safe hands.
