At the time of the Duke of Edinburgh's death we were actually on a DofE qualifying weekend. It proved to be a thoughtful and rewarding DofE weekend with 30 Cadets completing their DofE assessments.

This will be a life's milestone for them all given the sad news and the 2 min of Remembrance on Saturday morning for HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

I am glad to be part of this monumental award and to see young people grow in confidence as they progress through the award. I have been involved for over 20 years now both as a participant and a trainer/assessor and made a life long friend along the way.

Looking back I was privileged to receive my Gold award along with my friend and sister from the Duke himself, My daughter Kirsty followed in our footsteps and received hers from HRH Prince Edward in 2015.
Our DofE days inspired us to continue walking and raise money for many different charities in the process. This years challenges and causes are:
#dementiauk #Ultrachallenge #ABF #walkingthefrontline #macmillancancersupport #mightyhike. As well as being a volunteer trainer and assessor for DofE via the Sea Cadets.

HRH Prince Phillip will always have a lasting impact on my life.
