I completed bronze , silver and gold level awards and thoroughly enjoyed all three. I did this along with scouting qualifications . My Gold running along side Queens Scout. For Gold I learned a language, I improved my swimming skills, carried out adult support for elderly people and completed a walking expedition in the Spanish Pyrenees Mountains. Absolutely unbelievable. I challenged myself and established life long friendships.
I developed resilience and determination and a real 'Can Do' attitude I have taken into my adult and working life in the NHS.
I went along to St James Palace with our group and our parents which I will never forget that day and meeting Prince Phillip I was 18 years of age. My husband was part of this group and we have been together for almost 40 years and married for 34 years.
I am proud to be a GAHA and to this day still put it on application forms as a qualification along with my Queens Scout Award.
Prince Phillip was a true Gentleman and held the highest standards which I have tried to emulate in my adult life and passed onto our Sons who also hold D Of E awards.
