I think D of E is fantastic. It is a great way of getting going and exploring things you might not usually do. My daughter Izzy's volunteering took her to a farm at Tatton Park where she volunteered every Saturday morning. She escorted Tamworth pigs to the field and a mother Clydesdale horse. She was fearful of larger animals but overcame this fear whilst volunteering. She learnt the piano for her Skills part and still learns now. Izzy joined a gym and did online yoga with her friends. She is now starting her Silver award.
Rest in peace Duke of Edinburgh and may the award continue to grow and inspire young people to try new things.
