I have very fond memories of the Duke when meeting him at St James Palace in 1984 having gained the Gold award. He instantly put us all at ease.
The awards helped me gain confidence, opportunities to try new things and gave me experiences I would never have had. I have also made lifelong friends within the RNLI which was my service section.
