Tonya Pentland
I received my Gold Award in 1990 with the support of John Hamilton, Scottish Association.
I value my Gold Award and the skills and aptitudes I developed in taking part in the scheme more than my University education. I now work in law enforcement, representing a government department overseas and I still credit the award scheme for the way in which I view the world and how apply myself to my role. I will be eternally grateful.
I was lucky enough to have met the Duke of Edinburgh again in 2010 so I could tell him about my career, how the award scheme had influenced it and how much I looked forward to my daughter (age only 1yr) taking part.
It is an incredible legacy.
