I will never forget camping out in a soggy, muddy field in October 2019 as support staff for a group of DofE pupils about to achieve their Bronze award.
It rained non-stop all night and I was worried about my tiny tent leaking (in the photo), but I need not have worried. I remained warm and dry all night, with the rain beating down creating a strangely comforting sound all around me during the night.
In the morning, the sun came up and I watched our aspiring Bronze award pupils make breakfast, pack up, clear up and set off again for a long walk with their rucksacks.
