Sue Edwards

Learnt so much about myself and how to be resiliant and self reliant during the expedition phase.

The skills taught me how to stick at something and learn something new.

Service and Gold Residential taught me about how to think about the world around me (project with the police at Bronze level and attaining a rank in cadets for silver and bronze) how to be a good citizen and most importantly to consider others.

Physical taught me to keep going, always try to be a little better.

The whole award shaped me as a teenager and I've stuck to the principles today, as a young soldier, as an ambulance officer and as a prison officer.

To my mind the funding should be made available (equipment etc) to make the Bronze award mandatory in year 10. A productive and inspiring outlet for teenagers who otherwise could fall to all manner of temptations.
