Stu Wells
Summer of 1986: I was at St Edward’s, Oxford and myself and 4 friends were planning our DofE expedition. We asked the canoe club if we could borrow 4 kayaks, which strangely they agreed to. We managed to blag a lift to Lechlade, stuffed a tent into one kayak, food into another, and spare clothes and tent poles in the other then canoed from the source of the Thames at Lechlade for 4 days. An amazing experience, warm days, nights on riverside meadows, rubbish food that tasted amazing, good friends that I’m still in touch with now. And a great sense of achievement at the end.
