It started as working together with a team of people from school I didn't know to battle our way through some very wet and cold Welsh weather. It initiated my passion and love of the outdoors, I have been known to even drag my now husband on a four day hike across the Pembrokeshire coastline as a reintactment of fond D of E memories.

The sections of the award also helped me to gain confidence when talking to strangers whilst volunteering in a charity shop, with the residential aspect introducing me to my now future career. All these skills are now used daily in my role as a nurse.

Thank you to The Duke of Edinburgh for building such a wonderful opportunity, I look at my certificate with pride and a sense of achievement.
