Stella Willmott

The Duke visited Grantham in 1973 to see people involved with the award scheme. I had a table to fill with examples of my interest project which was embroidery. I had made several pieces, one of which was a tapestry bell pull. The Duke picked it up and laughed saying that he knew what it was as they had many of them at his home. I went to Buckingham Palace to receive my Gold award in 1975 and my mother often talked about what a wonderful day she had and what a proud moment it was for her to meet the Duke of Edinburgh.
