As a parent, I have had three children experience DofE. We attended one of the last of the Duke’s award ceremonies at Holyrood which was a fabulous event with HRH taking time to speak to each group making them feel at ease.
All of our children have enjoyed their adventures. They learnt so much. In remembering the inspiration of the Duke of Edinburgh, we should also take a moment to reflect on the spirit of giving he inspired both in the young people but also in the team of leaders who take a group of enthusiastic but not necessarily skilled young people and support them in developing as individuals. Thank you to all who make the scheme happen.
