Simon Brindley

I did bronze, silver and gold at a British Army School in Hamm, W Germany called Windsor Boys’ School. I was even in Edinburgh House so I guess that gave some nominal connections. But i just wanted to say thanks to the DofE for giving us, indirectly, some of the best times at school out on expeditions in the forests of the Harz Mountains on the E German border and the Sauerland.
I met the Duke of Edinburgh three times, twice in Germany and once at the palace. He gave me my gold badge on a visit to Dortmund. I had very 70’s long hair and had just left school. “What are you going to do next?” “I have got a place to study law at university”. “Well, you’ve got your wig already.” Quick as a flash.
