During the final expedition we got lost and were last back to camp and ended up pitching out tent in the fading evening light. The rest of my group decided to give up the next day but I carried on with a new group. The DOE award helped me amongst other things never to give up and built resilience.

Also collecting my award had its's moments as our train was delayed and we had to run through Regents park to ensure we we were there on time, shouting out landmarks to my poor Mum as we went. She still reminds me now. It was an honour to receive my Gold award from the Duke of Edinburgh himself.
