Coming from an ex-mining village, opportunity was not something in abundance, however as part of the army cadet force, I had the great opportunity to take part in the DofE award. The experience had a profound impact on my confidence, sense of self-efficiency while also teaching me values in teamwork and leadership.

12 years later, I am now studying for my professional doctorate in clinical psychology and still hold these early experiences which nurtured my guiding principles.
