Sarw Hanna

My 4 children and I started our Kilimanjaro journey of 7 days, through rain forest, rocky terrain and freezing cold temperatures finally, successfully reaching the summit on 6.9.2011. My sons ages then were 12, 22 & 23, while my daughter was 21!
I will never forget the older boys commenting to me. "Wow Mum, this is a walk in the park compared to D of E" I was absolutely speechless! Everyday it was the same comment, while we struggled and strived to the top, the overwhelming comment was the boys found it way easier than their D of E awards.
What a sad loss, what a Great Mentor HRH Prince Philip was/is. Thank you for kicking my sons (arses) into gear.

School story 2003
My daughter then aged about 14 stood in line to meet the Queen & Prince Philip while they were opening new buildings at her school, the Cheltenham Ladies College. The Queen went to the right and the Duke to my daughters side. My daughter was standing next to her very tall friend who had a black eye! The Duke came straight over and commented to them. " Oh, I didn't know boys were at this School!"
