I am so proud to of gained bronze, silver & especially gold. My fondest memory was my residential on the Isle of Iona in Scotland with the NTS experiencing the life of the islanders. My hardest was the final hike which I thought I would need rescuing from but thought at the time it would be too embarrassing as a teenager to be rescued by helicopter (looking back it was not an emergency but I had just ran out of rations)! After gaining my gold and meeting the Duke, I went on to help others with the DofE by meeting them at checkpoints on their hikes etc.
My gold was always on my cv and always came up at interviews. I am sure it’s why I have never been out of work!
So proud still and encouraging my now 10 year old to join the scouts so he can find the sense of adventure like i did.
