I have been managing our corporate partnership with the DofE since February 2020, although Amey have supported the DofE since 2000.
I joined at a very strange time, just as the pandemic hit us and changed the world we once knew. We were adamant that COVID-19 would not stop us from running the DofE Gold Award, and realised more than ever, our young people needed the support.
We recruited 30 employees onto the Gold Award in June 2020, and even though we haven't been able to meet each other yet, we adapted the programme to ensure the participants could still complete their modules.
Whilst we moved into this new 'virtual' world, we made sure we ran monthly webinars with our cohort to motivate them and to ensure they were on track.
The Gold Award has given our young people something to focus on and developed their skills, at a time that has been so uncertain for young people.
We are now looking forward to everyone at our Residential in July - where we will get to meet each other and celebrate our young employees resilience and tenacity over the last year!
