Sarah Cubbin

I received my gold award at Buckingham palace garden party in 1994. I am from a family of gold award achievers with my dad receiving his in the late 60s and going onto devoting 40years of his spare time as a leader with Wirral and west Cheshire operating authority. He is now 70 and still going strong. My 2 sons are now in the system and trying their best to complete sections with covid restrictions doing their silver and gold awards. The award scheme is character building, shows team work, commitment and dedication. I still refer back to my expedition experiences now 20 yes on. It helped me get jobs and supported my application for my nurse training. The skills I got through dofe stay with you for life and I now have the pleasure to see my children soaking up this experience too
The duke of Edinburgh award has always been a big part of our family’s life
