I gained Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE Awards whilst at school and then became an Award Leader and Coordinator. I really enjoyed all the activities I took part in for my Awards including the expeditions, so I then qualified as a Mountain Leader and helped train Award participants to undertake their expeditions in the countryside. The Duke of Edinburgh's vision to set up the Award programme has helped so many young people gain new skills and experiences in the UK and around the world. Hopefully, more young people will have the opportunity to take part in the Award programme and this will be a wonderful legacy for us to all remember HRH Prince Philip. His support to the Queen for over 70 years and his service to this country will also be remembered with thanks.
