The Duke of Edinburgh's Award was a transformative experience for me as a young person, pushing me to try activities and building my confidence in my ability to adapt to new situations.
Expeditions were always the highlight of each award I completed, which equipped me with life skills that have proved essential for my life! A 14 year old who had never had to cope making my own food, or surviving without washing my hair daily, was molded into a pragmatic, confident young person!
I owe a huge amount to the DofE for bringing out much potential that I don't think I would have met if I hadn't been pushed and challenged by my award experiences!
