I received my Gold award in 2005 from Prince Phillip and Katherine Jenkins. I had been to South Georgia, Antarctica for my expedition with The British Exploring Society on the Footsteps of Shackleton Expedition. Prince Phillip is the only member of the Royal Family to have visited South Georgia and we spoke briefly about the island and Shackleton. I now lead DofE in the school I teach in and we have the first pupils completing Gold currently. I hope they get as much from the experience as I did.
