1981 ish... Always semi-remember with great fondness and humour the expedition on the bronze award. In the beautiful Lake District. The first day was pretty straight forward and I have little memory of it am these years on! The second day- we set off, full of excitement for a 3 hrs hike around some hills... 7 hrs and numerous discussions about which hill we should be on later... (No emergency mobiles/gps in these days kids!) We were picked up by the school minibus and 2 angry but relieved teachers! We’d had a great day regardless.
Now - both my sons have taken part in the DofE and one gained Silver and younger one bronze. A huge thank you to Prince Phillip - RIP your highness. Life long memories are made and character built.
