My participation at all three levels of the D of E established a profound awakening to the rewards of mountaineering and love of the environment. Furthermore, the many activities offered as part of the service and interest sections provided new experiences as well as enhancing a sense of commitment. The enrichment of my life during these formative years laid fundamental foundations for my teaching career and pursuit of mountain leadership and naturally sharing many similar joys with my family.
