I lacked confidence a lot and was a very nervous person when I was in school. Participating in bronze, silver and gold DOFE made me a more confident person by me being in a group of people I was not friends with as I moved schools, so had to build my confidence to work with people I didn’t really know. Also I gained my confidence and self esteem by volunteering at a cancer research shop, at a care home and at brownies and then rainbows. It improved my communication skills to talk to lots of people and help people, which I love. DofE encouraged me and made me realised I wanted to care for people and now I’m studying to be a paramedic. The activities and the expeditions I achieved proved me that I can do anything if I put my mind to it and no one will get in my way whatever you have been through. I am so glad I was persuaded by my mum and dad to give it a go and try and overcome my mental health struggles by doing this which was out of my comfort zone. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to do this amazing experience. I recommend it to everyone even if you have struggles as you will see the improvement in yourself day by day by trying your best and going out of your comfort zone.
Thank you so much
