I've been a DofE leader for over 20 years and have been on countless expeditions. There are so many great memories and it's been a privilege to see so many young people achieve things they never thought they could. For many, The Award has been the beginning of a life-long love of the outdoors, a passion for a new hobby or sport, or a commitment to others through voluntary work. What I love about the expeditions is that you can guarantee when you speak to a participant from years before that they will have a story to tell and a smile on their face, even if it poured down for their entire expedition!
