The DofE award was the most rewarding experience I had through school and shaped who I am today. I still have the friendships I formed from doing the award now. I was able to travel abroad with the award and it created so many opportunities for me to join in initiatives in the local community. Travelling to the Palace with my Dad to collect my gold award was the cumulation of four years commitment to achieving both my bronze, silver and gold award. I actually met the Duke of Edinburgh during the award ceremony who asked me about my experiences travelling to Germany with the award, walking through the Black forest. Thank you to the Duke of Edinburgh in the creation of the award and providing so many young people are the UK the opportunity to build their confidence, form life long friendships and provide extra curricular interests to the standard education. I will always look back on my time completing the awards with fondness, thanks for the memories xx
