Paul Whitehead

I gained my Bronze, Silver and Gold through the Air Training Corps during the early 1980s. Great memories of all aspects of the scheme, especially the expeditions ( Gold - Peak District, Silver - South West Holland )
Without exaggeration, taking part in the scheme made me who I am. I learnt so much about teamwork, leadership, and service, and still try to maintain the ethos of the DofE in my adult life. It has been in my thoughts in all of my projects and achievements since, and both of my children have also now gained awards.
Meeting the Duke for my Gold Award at St James Palace was amazing and I'll always remember his great sense of humour and his genuine interest in ALL of our stories. I have been privileged to be in the Duke's presence a few times in my life and will remember him as a great example of someone who got on with the job with no fuss and with humour.
Rest in Peace Sir and Thank You.
