I am a current participant of the Gold Award. From my first expedition on my bronze award to my upcoming expeditions in Gold, the skills I have learnt are phenomenal. The DofE really opens your eyes to the bigger world and learns you key life lessons- when your feeling worn down and tired, keep going and be resilient because the outcome at the end will be 100% worth it and you will feel so proud of where you have come from. It is something where you have nothing to worry about and you can just be yourself and have fun it’s just you, you’re team and the country side. It brought me and my friends closer than ever as we were relying on each other to get us through this as a team. Our team leaders were amazing ! You couldn’t fault them at all, they cared about their group a whole lot... you could definitely see that they enjoyed being part of the DofE and they contributed to my amazing experience which I’m forever grateful for. For me when I first signed up, I thought to myself I’m never in a million years going to be able to follow a map or walk that many miles or even just to be able to cope with bare necessities. But that is what DofE contributes to your future it shows you that any challenge you face no matter how hard you try and tell yourself it is there is always a way around it and it may not be as hard as it may look. DofE is not a smooth ride you will get tired and feel like you can’t do it any longer but that’s what your team is there for to support each other and to remind yourselves each step you take is one closer to the finish line. The
DofE is something I will always recommend to people it is the best experience! DofE has had a big impact on my future !
