I was privileged to meet HRH on three occasions, all related to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. He presented me with my Gold Award in 1963 and we met again in 1988 and 1990 when both my children, David and Judy received their Awards at Holyrood Palace. For some reason, my wife and I were selected on both occasions for a brief chat. I cannot remember his comment - but it was probably something like "We must stop meeting like this".
