Nigel Wilson

Brought up in the city, dyslexic, with what would now be regarded as an attention deficit syndrome, my prospects at school were not very good.
I joined the Scheme in 1971 and found my niche in those practical activities and those based based primarily in the outdoors. Still struggling academically, I worked my way through Bronze ( 1972), Silver (1973) and Gold ( 1975).
I left school with no academic qualifications, but my journey since then is (I believe), founded on the life skills and passion instilled by the Scheme,
I eventually became a teacher for a time, served as an Army Officer for 16 years and since 2000, led various international development charities.... all down to the Scheme and the teachers who gave their free time to work with young persons such as I was then....
