Gold expedition in the Yorksire Dales timed to perfection as Hurricane Charley arrived; flattening tents and flooding the valleys. Thank goodness for the roaring log fire in The Crown at Horton in Ribblesdale and the friendly farmer who came to our rescue to negotiate the floods as we came off Pen-y-Ghent into Littondale. An unforgettable experience and not something I would have missed.
