Nicholas Westcott

I was the only recipient of the silver award from Libya (Queen Elizabeth 11 Coronation School, Benghazi. British Army), and was personally awarded by Sir Edmund Hillary, about 1964. Unfortunately my medal was stolen during the move back to the UK.
During my 30 mile hike across the Libyan desert, poking around in a pile of rocks disturbed a King Cobra which soared up to it's full height and stared me directly in the eyes, hood flapping, ready to strike. I have never run so fast in my life!
Taking part in the Award scheme was a big chapter in my life. I could not recommend it too highly.
