I have 2 special memories of meeting the Duke of Edinburgh.
The first was at St Jame’s Palace when I received my Gold Award. He was fascinated with a young man having done his expedition and residential over in Kenya. He spoke so kindly and with great interest.
The second was at Buckingham Palace at the 50th Anniversary. We met many of the Royal Family there. Prince Phillip walked along the isles so proud of what he had achieved, and quite rightly so.
Both memorable days and very close to my heart.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity back when I was 14 years of age. Since then, I have been involved with the Award. I have, over the past 30 years, supported, encouraged and enabled many other young people through the Award. It has given me a true purpose and warmth all these years. Thank you for having foresight of the D of E Award.
