I completed my bronze silver and gold D of E through girls brigade. I learnt life skills that are still used today, they may not have been the ones being taught but we learnt along the way. How to pack a rucksack ( what is essential and what can be left when you have to carry it!) sleeping outdoors in a tent you have put up yourself. Shopping and cooking for food then realising you can’t use a fridge.
The sence of achievement when you complete a task or walk you thought was impossible. The friends made along the way and those who remain friends today over 30 years later.
I remember the pride of my parents when we went to st james palace to collect my Gold. The certificate still hangs in my hall and I celebrate the achievement each time I walk past x
Rest in peace Prince Philip I wear you badge with pride .
