Matthew McCracken

We went to Glenarif Forest park in Northern Ireland on our practice expedition. It was during a fierce storm which I believe was the tail end of a hurricane. By the time we had our tents set up we were very relieved to get into the shelter. Unfortunately for my group ours had a huge gaping hole in it and no door. It was freezing. Whilst we did not find it very funny at the time we look back on the memory fondly now and it helped improve our resilience as we stuck it out and survived to go on to complete our bronze award. I want to thank HRH Prince Philip for providing me and so many other young people with such an enjoyable challenge and he has Made a profound impact on many people’s lives. RIP HRH Prince Philip.
