I remember planning an entire day's expedition for my Silver Award along a parish boundary, which is of course just a line on a map! Achieving my Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards taught me a great deal about myself. I realised that I am more resilient that I expected and it gave me confidence to tackle challenges later in life. Parallel to achieving my Gold Award, I also gained the Queen's Scout Award. Both awards reflect my character on my CV and have helped me enormously in my career. I owe a debt of gratitude both to the scheme itself and to the volunteers who facilitate it.
