The time spent in the hills on the expeditions were some of the best times of secondary school for me. It allowed me to feel like I was achieving something despite difficulties at school. The teacher who led the expeditions was so supportive and inspirational, and without her I wouldn't have made it through school and to university. The D of E helped me to believe in myself and grow in confidence at a time in my life when I was really struggling.
