I have been a DofE Leader for over 25 years with our Open award group on Sanday in Orkney.
As a teenager I did my Gold award which led to a lifelong interest for me.
When I was 16 ( 52 years ago!) I chose fencing for the physical section of my award and I met HRH Duke of Edinburgh when he came to watch us.
Fencing became part of my life from then on.
Now, I still teach fencing to other young people - many of whom have taken up fencing for their DofE too. This photo is from a fencing competition in Shetland and all the fencers in it were doing their DofE!
