My mother got her Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards and set me the challenge of getting my gold. I thought if she can do it then why not. She’s a good role model and I’m pleased she set me the challenge. I’ve presently completed the bronze level (bar the expedition) and I’m on with the Silver award now. I’m loving trying new things and doing things which I would never have considered (voluntary helping out at the Calvert Trust horse stables - for disabled people).
I have just started on my silver award and I’m trying new skills which is helping me with my GCSEs (e learning Food Hygiene exams) and also learning more about others (cricket: scoring and umpiring). Hopefully in September or when expeditions can resume again I will have fully completed my bronze and silver awards and can then start on my gold.
My aim is to have completed my gold award (or most of it) by the time I finish school from studying A Levels.
