‘I took my silver in the first year it started and my gold the next year 1957/58 Taken through the YMCA in Mancheste’I didn’t take bronze as already doing social work in Salford’I now live in the Isle of Man’i am still involved in charity work andChairman still of Age IOM & The Manx HousingTrust’which is housing about 100 single parent families at present’Before I retired I was Coroner of Middle for 27 years which was a Crown appointment at the time ‘
The Duke was an inspiration to me in my youth and it is wonderful how many lives have been changed by him’ I would love to know if there are any more of us oldies still around but it was great to be there at the start when it was just an rxperient’
