My daughter achieved her bronze award with school which she found both exhausting and exhilarating at the same time, she then went on to start her silver award with Girl Guiding . This she started late 2019 and began her skills section but then the country went into Lockdown in March 2020 and everything came to an abrupt stop , undeterred we looked at the D of E website and found ideas of ways of completing her award during these strange times .
My daughter and her friend painted stones, sent cards and completed acts of kindness held a socially distanced cake sale to raise money for charity , she volunteered at a local primary school with keyworker children all for her volunteering section, she baked week in week for her skills and completed joe wicks for her physical.
This award helped to keep her focused , give her purpose and challenge her in the most extraordinary time as well as helping others , keeping physically active and gave her the opportunity with a range of new people and institutions
She received her certificate at the end of 2020 and is now awaiting the opportunity to complete her expedition when this is safe to do so.
I am so proud of her for not giving up and finding a way to achieve her goal.
