I became involved in DoE award in 2014 when I went on a expedition with a group of students from the school I was working at in Ecuador. It was inspring to see these students complete their expedition but also see how the dealt with the challenges they faced. As a result in 2014 I became the coordinator for my school and also completed my award leader.

During the next 2 years I supported the students in completing the bronze and silver award. In Ecuador we were able to take the students to over 5000m of altitude and climb some of the local mountains. To see the students joy when they reached the summit was amazing. Also it has a positive effect back in the classroom as the participants became more confident.

I consider myself to have been involved in this award and it is an amazing legacy to Prince Philip.
