Louise Earnshaw

My dofe journey actually started as an adult when I became a teacher. As a young person I developed a love for adventure and the outdoors but didn't have the chance to complete dofe myself however on starting at my new school I soon volunteered to support the expedition side of bronze, silver and gold dofe. 19 years later I am very proud to still be involved as a leader and assessor not only for the expedition side but also other sections of the award. Dofe is a community inclusive of everyone who I have the pleasure of shared experiences with. It has shaped my adult life considerably becoming a mountain leader and experiencing a wide range of beautiful British locations I had never been to before alongside working with young people outside the classroom which really has benefited my work in the classroom. I have had the privilege and pleasure in attending the 60th anniversary at Buckingham Palace and being a marshall at St James Palace but I still look to the proud moment a team I have trained through mud, rain and tears complete their expedition with a smile on their faces, what a privilege it is to share that with them.
