Lorna McHale
Many memories which have molded my moral compass and sense of duty making me a team player and seeing the hardest tasks in life through to the end.
I collected my Gold award from the Duke of Edinburgh in 1973 at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh. He was charming and spoke to each one of us about our community involvement and where we had carried out our camping/ orienteering trips.
Princess Anne had recently become engaged and after receiving our award my friend, mum and I were lucky enough to meet the princess in a courtyard as we were leaving, she kindly took off her left, white glove to show us her engagement ring.
The Queen and their sense of duty, ability to relate to their subjects and the world deserves respect.
I continue to give my best to everything I do with my family and community thanks to the Dof E award scheme. I will be wearing my Gold Badge this week in honour of Prince Philip.
