HRH The Duke of Edinburgh will be greatly missed in many ways but especially for his undaunting support of so many great charities. One of His Royal Highness greatest legacies he has left behind is the Duke of Edinburgh Awards which I was honoured to be a part of and to work alongside him over many years.

His Royal Highness had a wonderful sense of humour and was very skilled at putting youngsters at ease in his company. The awards give so many opportunities to young people and instills a passion and determination into their lives. In 2016 we celebrated the 60th anniversary of the awards with a wonderful service at Westminster Abbey. I was honoured to have worked on the restoration of the Abbey alongside The Duke of Edinburgh and, in over twenty years, he only missed two meetings, such was his total commitment on any projects he was involved in.

Prince Philip was a wonderful man and an inspirational character who will be greatly missed by Her Majesty The Queen, the Royal Family, the Commonwealth and all the charities that he meant so much to.

Lady Harris and I were honoured to have known him and are very sad on his passing.
