I had a wonderful experience.
For my residential I volunteered on a cruise ship looking after children sailing around the Mediterranean. Had to organise games, take part on trips ensuring the children on SS Uganda had a great time. I had never been abroad before and didn't know anyone - this gave me so much confidence.
I also helped at a holiday for disabled people and looked after an ex-heavy-weight boxer who was a paraplegic. I learnt so much about disability that I am today still involved with enabling disabled adults to participate in everyday life.
I am still in touch with the friends I made on my D of E adventure.
I had a wonderful day at Buckingham Palace meeting the Duke of Edinburgh in the music room. It was a truly wonderful occasion.
I now help young people get their awards.
