It was my favourite subject at school, the youth worker that was in charge was so down to earth and listened to what you had to say. He understood the youth of today and taught us respect and to treat others how you wanted to be treated. The expeditions were my favourite, giving you the chance to be outdoors, teaching you independence, learning how to work as a team, cooking outdoors myself. It will live with me for ever. I remember the day at the age of 14 coming home from the expedition and never feeling so tired and exhausted but it felt great and what an achievement. I nearly finished my silver but unfortunately I had to leave school at the age of 15. I had completed everything except the expedition and it’s gutting, so hopefully one day. I loved the DofE
