I have wonderful memories of DoE not only did both my daughters get get their Gold awards, Emma my eldest got to speak with the Duke of Edinburgh about her music and saxophone playing at the awards ceremony and Laura my youngest spoke with the Duke of Wessex at her ceremony, chatting to him about doing the expedition on horseback. I too participated in the DoE Diamond Award and climbed to the top of Ben Nevis.
It has been invaluable as a life experience for us and given the family treasured memories of the whole experience culminating in the awards ceremonies themselves.
